Burns Night 2019

Friday 25th January 2019 saw The Clifton Club celebrate the 260th anniversary of the birth of Rabbie Burns in some style! Members enjoyed Andrew Piper playing traditional Scottish bagpipes upon arrival and during the drinks reception.

Head Chef Phil Clench prepared a Scottish feast split over multiple courses including Scotch Broth, Traditional Haggis with seasonal trimmings, Whiskey and Chocolate Cremeux with Whiskey Ice Cream, Shortbread and a selection of artisanal Scottish cheeses accompanied with homemade chutneys.

Members participated throughout the celebrations with Selkirk Grace by Mr George Lancaster; The Parade of The Haggis / Ode to a Haggis by Mr Joshua Mudie; The Immortal Memory of Rabbie Burns by Mr Richard Jarratt; The Toast To The Lassies by Mr Tim Lalonde and The Toast To The Laddies by Mrs Jane Davidson before a Vote of Thanks by Mrs Lindy Tasker.

The night continued late into the night where Members enjoyed Scottish Reeling accompanied by the wonderful Brewery Band. A collection of photographs from the evening are available on the Members Area of the website for Members to enjoy.
