Session 8: Lump in the male or female breast! Is breast screening for all cost effective? With Simon Cawthorne
I am an experienced and nationally regarded breast cancer specialist and I led the centralisation of breast surgery in Bristol, which has brought together all of the breast services including breast screening into the new breast care centre at Southmead Hospital. I have previously been the breast cancer clinical lead for NHS, past president of the Royal Society of Medicine, surgical advisor for quality in the NHS Breast Screening Programme South West. Medical director Avon, Somerset and Wiltshire Cancer Nerwork and associate medical director, North Bristol NHS Trust. I run a one stop clinic at the Spire Bristol Hospital. I specialises in breast examination including simultaneous ultrasound, and the assessment and management of breast cancer risk. Further I also specialise in the management of breast pain, breast lumps.
