Brunch to follow at 12pm.

“The Changing Balance of Power: Where Does Power Lie in Today’s World?”

For nearly eight decades, the democratic West led largely by the United States and its allies has been the dominant global political and economic force. It helped bring about the end of European communism and oversaw an era of unprecedented global prosperity.

But the global landscape is shifting. China has risen as a major economic powerhouse and increasingly asserts itself as a global leader, challenging the long-standing Western-led order. At the same time, the West faces internal and external pressures:

  • A more assertive and disruptive Russia
  • Political uncertainty within Western democracies
  • A highly unconventional U.S. President

These forces raise questions about the future of global stability and the balance of power.

What does this mean for the world and for us? Following Francis Cornish’s well‑received talk in January, he returns to explore how global power dynamics are evolving and what that means for the future.

£10 for the talk or £16 for the talk and brunch.
