Born and raised in Porthmadog, North Wales, and now living and working in Cardiff, Elfyn has spent more than 25 years developing a distinctive visual language that exists beautifully between landscape and abstraction. Inspired by the ever-changing horizons, skies and atmosphere of the Welsh landscape, his paintings evoke emotion rather than place, inviting each viewer to discover their own connection within the work.
Recognised as one of Wales’ leading contemporary painters, Elfyn is the recipient of the Gold Medal for Fine Art at the National Eisteddfod of Wales and was named Welsh Artist of the Year, accolades that reflect both the originality of his practice and his enduring contribution to contemporary Welsh art.

Many works evolve over several months, with each layer responding intuitively until a perfect balance of movement, light and atmosphere is achieved.
