The Clifton Club is an exclusive private Members Club nestled in the heart of Clifton Village, Bristol. One of the few remaining of its kind in the South West it boasts a varied array of facilities along with a traditional Drawing Room and Bar, Dining Room and Snooker Room with 2 tables. With a membership of over 500 The Clifton Club has grown from strength to strength developing its social offering and renovating its 18th Century decor along the way. The modern day Club not only offers luxurious Regency surroundings but a vibrant community attracting like minded individuals of all ages.

Founded in 1818 by the gentry of Clifton as a space to read and play cards and billiards, The Club was originally housed in The Clifton Library and remained there until 1850. The opportunity soon arose to purchase The Clifton Grand Hotel and Assembly Rooms, and The Clifton Club relocated to its new home on The Mall. The Club remains in this building to this day and following a refurbishment in 2008 has tastefully restored the Regency architecture and kept its original features. The modern day Club hosts a diverse program of events and activities to cater for the wide ranging interests of its Members and constantly looks to attract and grow through developing its offering. The Club is internationally recognised, having established a network of over 80 reciprocal clubs. In recent years The Club has seen a growth, and now record high population, of lady Members and young professionals from all walks of life.The changes taking place are shaking off the stigma of a dated Victorian Gentleman’s Club and replacing it with an exclusive, modern and vibrant social atmosphere.The building itself boasts a variety of sumptuously decorated Regency rooms,most popular The Dining Room; a traditional fine dining setting with grand marbled columns and original glass domed ceiling serves a daily changing à la carte menu and plays host to not only Member luncheons but an array of formal dinners and society celebrations. The newly refurbished Auriol Room, set to open during 2018 will showcase modern facilities in beautifully restored surroundings to create a flexible workspace and study area for Members to enjoy for both business and personal use.

Throughout 2018 The Club is celebrating its 200th year, proud to be one of the longest standing institutions in the City of Bristol we are not only celebrating our rich historical past but looking ahead to the future. The Club has carved its mark on Bristol through adopting an ethos to preserve and improve its traditions and hand it down from generation to generation. The current Membership are committed to continuing this practice, ensuring The Club and its facilities will survive for centuries to come.
